Apart from my basic web design services, I offer several additional services:
WordPress
This is the most amazing piece of software available on the Internet. It was created initially as blogging software, but because it is so advanced, many people use it for their fully functional websites (I am one of them). It has a built in CMS, meaning the client can add, edit and delete copy and photographs easily, without having to pay thousands for a normal CMS system. It is completely search engine friendly (it actually tells search engines when there are updates and they generally list better). You can add calendars, Twitter feeds and a million other widgets at the click of a button, as opposed to paying for each script that would need to be coded and added in manually. Because it is open-source, you don’t need to buy any software. All you pay for is my knowledge of the software, installing it and making sure it works correctly.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Although I build websites to be search engine friendly, I offer professional SEO packages too. This is Internet marketing at its’ best. SEO ensures you are getting found for the correct keywords associated with your business, you can monitor your visits and where they’re coming from, you can pay for adverts that guarantee results, etc.
SEO should only be applied to well-built websites, which is why I often need to redo/rebuild websites in order to do SEO on the websites. SEO is also the last thing you do if you have started a brand new website from scratch. jQuery (Additional Scripts)
Sometimes, with or without WordPress, you might find you require some additional scripting to give your website that final, funky touch. Scripts in jQuery can range from accordions that expand and close at a click, lightbox galleries that look like Flash or headers that have rotating images. jQuery is completely search engine friendly and cross-browser compatible and it is also open-source. It does require a lot of personalising and editing to suite your websites needs, so for each script you want added, there is a set price.
It really is worth putting quality software and scripting into your website. Not only does this ensure search engines like your website, it also ensures that all people across all browsers and computer systems can view your website correctly. I cannot stress enough how important this is… if your website doesn’t display properly for a potential client, you could lose them.
